If conditions and your acclimatization allow, we’ll continue toward Cerro Stepanek. Otherwise, you’ll return to camp with an incredible adventure accomplished. OUR RECOMMENDATION
This expedition is ideal for those who have little mountain experience and want to begin exploring high-altitude adventures.
The level of physical demand is moderate, requiring very good fitness and endurance for long walks with elevation gain.
Day 1. Toward Las Veguitas
We meet early in the morning in Mendoza City and head toward the Vallecitos refuge area. We hike for no more than 2 hours until we reach the Las Veguitas high camp, where we will spend the night.
- Maximum altitude: 3250 masl | Distance: 2.5 km | Elevation gain: 250 m
Day 2. Summit attempt
Time to face the challenge. We wake up early to begin the ascent to Cerro Adolfo Calle. After reaching its summit, if conditions allow, we will continue toward Cerro Stepanek. After 8 to 9 hours of total activity, we will return to the camp.
- Maximum altitude: 4250 masl | Distance: 8 km | Elevation gain: 1000 m
Please note: Weather or physical conditions may prevent reaching the summit. Our professional guides will evaluate the situation at all times to ensure the safety of all participants.
Day 3. Return
We end our expedition. After breakfast, we break down camp and hike back to the pick-up point, from where we will be transferred back to Mendoza City, arriving around 3 p.m.

What is included in the full meal service?
Breakfasts, lunches, afternoon snacks, dinners, and trail snacks for all 3 days.
Menus will be planned according to the activity’s logistics, but some of the foods that may be included are:
- Bacon risotto
- Pasta with meat sauce
- Pasta with mushrooms
- Sandwiches with homemade bread, cold cuts, tomato, and avocado
- Stir-fried vegetable rice
- Traditional Argentine barbecue
- Cold cuts platters
- Fajitas
- Fresh fruits, nuts, cereal bars, oatmeal cookies, etc.
Important: If you are vegetarian or have any dietary preferences/restrictions, please let us know at the time of booking.
How many guides will there be?
There will be 1 professional guide for every 3 or 4 participants.
This ensures a personalized service and guarantees the necessary care for everyone in the group.
What happens if I feel sick and cannot reach the summit?
In the event that you experience altitude symptoms or extreme exhaustion that prevents you from continuing, one of the guides will accompany you back to camp, where you will wait for the group.
If you decide to return to the city, any transportation and logistical costs will be your responsibility.
It is important to note that we never leave any participant alone on the mountain.
How will we transport the loads to the high camp?
Each person will carry their personal gear, along with some common equipment distributed fairly among the group.
You should be prepared for your backpack to weigh up to 18 kg on the first day.
What if I don’t want to carry my load?
You can hire additional porter services, but you must inform us in advance.
How many people sleep in each tent?
We use three-person tents to facilitate logistics and weight distribution.
If you prefer a double tent, you must request it as an additional service.
Is prior experience necessary?
This mountain is ideal for starting your journey into high-altitude ascents.
However, you must have excellent physical fitness to endure long days carrying weight and dealing with significant elevation gains.
What is the weather like on this expedition?
The weather in the Andes is cold and unpredictable, even in summer.
Temperatures can vary from -10°C to 15°C in a single day.
From April to October, it is very likely to encounter snow and temperatures as low as -15°C.
Therefore, bringing proper warm clothing and high-altitude equipment is essential.
Can the itinerary change?
Yes. The itinerary is an ideal and approximate plan.
However, it is subject to both weather and human factors.
Always prioritizing summit success and group safety, our professional guides may adjust the itinerary at any time without prior notice.
