Live a different kind of day — filled with history, stunning landscapes, and local flavors

This experience is designed for those who want to explore a lesser-known side of the Andes foothills, away from the crowds, in a private, relaxed tour at your own pace.

We travel by vehicle along the historic Route 52, covering nearly 100 km — the first road that once connected Mendoza with Chile through the pre-Andes. We cross the breathtaking Villavicencio Reserve, home to guanacos, foxes, condors, and landscapes that feel frozen in time.

Throughout this journey across the Andean foothills, you’ll discover:

  • The iconic facade of the Villavicencio Hotel, still preserving its architectural charm (optional stop, subject to availability).

  • The Caracoles Viewpoint, overlooking the winding switchbacks and the vast Mendoza plains.

  • Abismo del Indio, a surprising natural formation with dramatic cliffs.

  • Cruz de Paramillos, the highest point of the route (3,100 masl), with open views of the central Andes and Mount Aconcagua.

  • The old Paramillos mines, where you can take an optional walk among century-old ruins, once part of Argentina’s first mining operation.

  • (If open) Tunduqueral Hill, an archaeological site with pre-Hispanic petroglyphs.

  • The charming village of Uspallata, where we enjoy a traditional Argentine lunch with barbecue, wine, and dessert.

Along the way, your guide shares stories about the region’s geography, Indigenous cultures, the San Martín campaign, and the hidden secrets of this magical part of the Andes.

A complete, human, and unhurried experience. Perfect for those who want to discover a different side of Mendoza — authentic and personal.

Is this tour suitable for everyone?

Yes. It’s a relaxed experience with no physical demands. We travel by vehicle the entire time, with short scenic stops. It includes an optional 45-minute walk through mining ruins — flat and easy. Perfect for all ages and fitness levels.

What meals are included?

We provide a light snack (cereal bar + water), and coffee with a local alfajor, served during a scenic stop inside the vehicle.

Lunch in Uspallata includes: empanadas, grilled meat with sides, drink, local wine, and dessert. All included in the tour price.

Do you offer vegetarian or allergy-friendly meals?

Yes, we can adapt the meal to your dietary needs — just let us know when booking.

What clothes should I bring?

We recommend: comfortable clothes, warm layers, closed shoes or trekking shoes, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Don’t forget your personal ID, required to enter border zones.

What are the restaurants like?

We’re far from city restaurants, but we choose the best local options available: home-cooked meals, friendly service, and authentic atmosphere. Don’t expect gourmet — but expect warmth and flavor.

Where do you pick up travelers?

Pick-up is included from Mendoza city and nearby areas within a 15 km radius.

We do not include pick-up from the Uco Valley or more remote areas — but feel free to ask us about availability.

Is the tour cancelled due to bad weather?

Only if necessary. Mountain weather can impact road safety. If there’s confirmed bad weather, we may cancel or reschedule. We always try to anticipate it, but some decisions are last minute and out of our hands.

Can we always enter Hotel Villavicencio?

No. We always stop at the historic facade, but entrance is not included because the hotel only opens on certain days and charges a fee.

If visiting inside is important to you, please let us know when booking, and we’ll gladly help arrange it.

What kind of vehicle is used?

We use a SUV or pickup truck, perfect for mountain roads.

For groups of more than 4, we can organize a van or minibus so everyone travels together — comfort is always a priority.

How many people are on the tour?

Your tour is private. You won’t share it with anyone else.

This allows a slower pace, personal attention, and flexibility at every stop.

Are there bathrooms during the trip?

Yes — but they’re rustic mountain toilets, with limited services. Be aware there are not many convenient restroom stops.
