OUR RECOMMENDATION
This expedition is ideal if you seek an authentic, meaningful, and deeply connecting experience.

Day 1. To Los Arrieros Camp
We meet in Mendoza City to begin a 6-hour drive southward across the province. At El Sosneado, we complete the entrance registration and then continue along a gravel road through stunning mountain landscapes.
There is no hiking scheduled for today — the focus is on enjoying the surroundings and acclimatizing.
Upon arrival at Los Arrieros Camp, we set up camp, organize our gear, and share a welcoming dinner in the heart of the mountains.
Day 2. To Barroso Camp
After breakfast, we start our first day of hiking — a journey of approximately 8 hours.
We follow the valley of the Atuel River, crossing several streams on horseback, surrounded by remote and awe-inspiring natural scenery, until reaching Barroso Camp where we will spend the night.
Max altitude: 3200 masl | Distance: 16 km | Elevation gain: 400 m
Day 3. Ascent to the Valley of Tears
We rise early for the most challenging day of the trek.
We ascend through high-mountain landscapes, cross rivers, and navigate moderately difficult terrain until reaching the Valley of Tears.

What if I am missing some equipment?
We can recommend rental houses and help you choose the most suitable equipment for this expedition.
How many guides will accompany the group?
There will be 1 professional trekking guide every 4 or 5 participants.
This ensures personalized service and the necessary care for every person in the group.
How will my personal gear be transported?
Your personal equipment (up to 10 kg) will be transported by mules.
Please note that mule transport can cause some wear and tear to your gear, so we recommend renting a mule bag.
How many people sleep in each tent?
We use triple tents to facilitate logistics and save time, since camps must be set up and dismantled daily.
What are the camps like?
Camps are 100% rustic: there is no infrastructure.
You won’t be able to shower (unless you do so in a stream) and there are no laundry facilities.
Is previous experience necessary?
Previous high-altitude experience is not required.
However, excellent physical fitness is essential, both aerobic (for uphill trekking at altitude) and muscular endurance (for long hiking days).
How to prepare? We recommend regular aerobic and strength training sessions, at an intermediate intensity, for 40-45 minutes, 4 times per week. Hiring a professional trainer is highly recommended.
What will the weather and temperatures be like?
Expect extreme and variable conditions: in a single day, temperatures can range from -10°C to 25°C.
The sun is very intense, and wind gusts can reach up to 70 km/h.
Snowfall is also possible, so it is essential to have proper clothing and gear to face these conditions.
What happens if I get tired?
The itinerary is designed so you can complete it without issues if you have a good level of fitness.
However, there will be a horse available for assistance in reaching camp (shared among participants).
Will I be able to communicate or charge my phone?
You won’t have any phone signal or internet during the expedition.
We recommend bringing a power bank that can fully charge your phone three times and keeping it in airplane mode to save battery.
How does the expedition end?
The expedition ends in Mendoza City around 9 p.m.
It’s important to have your accommodation booked in advance.
If your lodging is within the city center, our transport will drop you off at your door.
What should I expect from this experience?
If you have no prior mountain experience, keep in mind:
The Andes have a harsh climate and challenging terrain.
You’ll need to protect yourself from intense sun exposure, drink water regularly, walk over rocky and uneven paths, and adjust to the lack of comforts.
Due to the risks of mountain environments, the required gear list is mandatory.
Never underestimate mountain conditions — be mentally prepared to face adversity.
Can the itinerary change?
Yes. The itinerary is an ideal and approximate plan.
It is subject to weather and human contingencies.
Our professional guides may modify the route at any time to maximize summit chances or ensure group safety.
What costs should I expect if I abandon the trek?
Costs vary depending on your location and needs.
Transport from Los Arrieros Camp to Mendoza can cost up to USD 450.
If you use a horse to reach the pickup point, the cost can be up to USD 80 per day.
Important: All rescue or early exit expenses are the responsibility of the participant.
However, we will support you throughout the process, and in the event of a serious emergency, we will deploy all available resources to safeguard your health.
