A mountain day that ends with the best barbecue of your trip
In the heart of the Andes’ Frontal Range, just an hour and a half from Mendoza, a different kind of experience awaits: a tailor-made hike through streams, valleys, and stunning mountain landscapes, ending with a traditional Argentine barbecue under the open sky.
Your day begins at a typical mountain outpost, where local gauchos live in harmony with nature, animals, and silence. From there, we set off on a scenic trail surrounded by rivers, wide valleys, and panoramic views of the Cordón del Plata. The hike can be gentle or more challenging, depending on the group’s energy and mood — you can even reach a 3,000-meter summit if you’re up for it.
After the hike, comes the most anticipated part: an authentic Argentine asado, cooked slowly over coals, just like a Sunday lunch in an Argentinean family’s home. It includes starter platters, top-quality meat, local wine, vegetarian options, and a homemade dessert, all served in the fresh mountain air — no restaurants, no crowds. Just you, the mountains, and a meal you’ll never forget.
An authentic and intimate experience to enjoy the Andes your way, at your own pace, with great company and real flavors.
HIGHLIGHTS
Enjoy a 3 to 4-hour hike in the heart of the Andes’ Frontal Range, with adjustable intensity to match your pace — and the option to reach a 3,000-meter summit if you’re up for a challenge.
Along the way, you’ll take in stunning views of the high Andes, the foothills, and Potrerillos Dam, surrounded by mountain streams, native flora, and local wildlife like condors and foxes.
And to wrap up the day, the best part: a full Argentine lunch served outdoors — starter platters, fire-cooked meat, local wine, and a dessert with dulce de leche. A flavorful experience you won’t forget.

What fitness level do I need?
This hike takes place at mid-altitude, with gentle inclines, so you don’t need to be highly experienced or in top physical shape.
However, it’s important to be an active person, since the experience takes place in the mountains and can include more demanding sections if the group chooses to go further.
How far do we hike, how much do we climb, and what’s the highest point?
The total distance depends on the group’s pace, but it’s usually between 4 and 8 km (round trip).
The elevation gain ranges from 300 to 550 meters, and the highest point can reach 3,000 masl if the more challenging variant is chosen.
What food is included?
You’ll get a cereal bar and fresh fruit for the hike.
Lunch is a true highlight: a full Argentine barbecue cooked over open fire, with appetizers, high-quality meat, sides, local wine, and dessert with dulce de leche.
Can I request vegetarian or special meals?
Absolutely! Just let us know when you book.
What should I wear?
We recommend long pants, warm layers, a windbreaker, sun hat, sunglasses, and hiking shoes or sneakers. Don’t forget sunscreen, bottled water, and a personal ID (required).
You can download our full gear checklist here.
How many people are in the group?
We work with small groups, and the hike is personalized: each booking has its own guide, allowing us to tailor the pace, distance, and intensity.
You might share transport or lunch with others, but the hike itself is private and independent.
Where do you offer pick-up?
We offer pick-up in central Mendoza and anywhere within a 15 km radius.
If you’re staying farther away, we can pick you up for an additional fee.
If you’re staying in Luján de Cuyo, please message us before booking — some areas are included, others are not.
Will we cross rivers or streams?
Yes, the route includes two small streams with no bridges.
You might get your shoes a little wet — feel free to bring an extra pair to change into afterwards.
What’s the typical temperature like?
It depends on the season. In winter, there may be snow and temperatures as low as –10°C. In summer, it can still get chilly in the mountains.
Always bring warm clothes and proper footwear.
How do I know which route is best for me?
We’ll help you with that. When you book, we’ll suggest the best option based on your interests and fitness level.
The guide can also make adjustments on the day of the hike if needed.
Where do we have lunch?
Lunch is served outdoors at our own mountain lodge and cabin complex.
If the weather turns bad, we’ll move indoors — you’ll still have access to bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and everything you need to enjoy the experience comfortably.
And yes, we serve lunch with real plates, wine glasses, and silverware — just like a proper Sunday meal.
Can the itinerary change?
Yes. Weather, trail conditions, or group dynamics may require the guide to make changes without prior notice — always prioritizing safety and experience.
What if the weather is bad?
We’re in the mountains, so weather can be unpredictable.
Bring proper clothing and an open mindset — we’ll support you every step of the way.
